Christmas Pillows

For years I want to make Christmas pillows for my home decor. So last year I finally set out to do just that.
I designed the pillows using EQ8. It was fairly simple. First I chose what embroidery designs to use in my Brother Pedesign 7 Software. I enlarged each of the designs. I wanted the embroidery designs to fit in a 8" center. Second, I exported the embroidery designs as a Melco EXP format. This process was done for me to use it in Electric Quilt Software.

Now the fun begins. I imported the EXP files into EQ8. I chose the Fox and Geese Frame and Snowball Frame blocks.Once all the embroidery was done, I selected fabric from my stash. Cutting and piecing was a snap.
The Reindeer Candycane Pillow took four (5x7) hoopings. This was my first time doing a design with multiple hoopings. It was actullay easier than I anticipated.  The Reindeer Candycane took 2 hours and 15 minutes to machine embroider. It was machine pieced, quilted and finished with rick rack pipping.
Singing Teddy Bear

The Singing Teddy Bear took one hooping and 1 hour and 30 minutes to machine embroider. It was machine pieced, quilted with thick pipping.
Singing Teddy Bear Back

The Singing Teddy Bear Pillow has freemotion holly leaves. And the Reindeer Candycane pillow has freemotion  feathers on front and swirls on the back. Both pillows have hidden zippers for a custom look.
All fabrics and notions (threads, rick rack, pipping and zippers) used was from my stash. What an excellect stash buster.

Fun Fur Cowl Scraves

A great find in the Dollar Store! I found this lovely Fun Fur by Lion Brand Yarn in the Dollar store last month. I never used this type of yarn before. I thought it would a great opportunity to give it a try. So I purchased all three colors they had.
The Fun Fur is soo soft and cuddlely. Making it into a cowl scraf is ideal (pattern on the yarn wrapper). These scarves will make a perfect Christmas gift. And a big hit for the winter months.

They are made using a "O" crochet needle and double crochet stitch. These scraves whip up super fast. And I love super fast for last minute gifts. I just wished I had purchased more.

Now that I took a slight detour from quilting, it's back to quilting. So off I go! Have a wonderful Holiday  Season. See you in the New Year !
